Brexit is finally upon us!

After a little over three years of turmoil, The UK leaves the EU today.

After the 31st of January 2020 there will be a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and the EU negotiate additional arrangements. The current rules on trade, travel and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period.

EU residents in the UK

The UK government has reached an agreement with the EU that will protect the rights of EU citizens and their family members living in the UK. This agreement means that most citizen from the EU will need to apply to stay in the UK. They can then continue living their lives in the UK as they do now.

UK residents in the Netherlands

During the transition period UK nationals will retain their existing rights. They do not need a residence document, only a valid passport. Did you, as a UK national, receive a temporary residence permit from the IND in March or October 2019? This was only valid in case there would be no deal. Since there is a deal, you will not be needing it.
