New 2025 Immigration Salary Thresholds in Wallonia and Flanders
Starting January 1, 2025, the minimum salary threshold for foreign employees in Wallonia & Flanders will increase, affecting new, pending, and existing work permits. Each year, Belgium adjusts these thresholds for certain categories to qualify for work or single permits.

Highly Skilled Workers: €51,613
Highly Qualified Workers Under 30 (Junior): €41,290
Management Positions: €86,110
European Blue Card: €66,738
EU Blue Card (Junior, <3 years' experience): €53,390
Arts Workers: €43,056
ICT Managers: €66,738
ICT Experts: €53,390
ICT Trainees: €33,370
Professional Athletes, Coaches, Referees (under Employment Law): €51,613
Other Trainers (not under Employment Law): €43,056
Young Au Pairs: €750
2025 Salary Requirements by Category in Flanders:
Highly skilled: 100% or 48,912 euros. For a highly skilled under 30 or for a nurse, this is reduced to 80%, i.e. 39,129.60 euros. Note: this reduction never applies to seconded employment.
Intra-corporate transferee specialist: 100% or 48,912 euros. These employees are always seconded, so no reduction to 80% is provided.
Intra-corporate transferee trainee: 100% or 48,912 euros. These employees are always seconded, so no reduction to 80% is provided.
Managerial: 160% or 78,259 euros.
Intra-corporate transferee executive: 160% or 78,259 euros.
European blue card: 130% or 63,586 euros.
Under Employment Law of 24.02.1978: 51, 613 euros.
Other Trainers (not under Employment Law of 24.02.1978): 43, 056 euros
For professional athletes and spectacle artists, the minimum wage is not based on the Belgian average gross monthly wage. For them, the minimum amount is indexed annually in accordance with the index figure of conventional wages:
Professional athletes: 101,049 euros. This is reduced for trainers without a professional athlete employment contract to 50% or 50,509.50 euros.
Spectator artists: 42,313 euros.
Employers—Key Reminders for Compliance:
For Current Permit Holders: Ensure all salaries meet the updated threshold by January 1.
New/Renewal Applications: Work authorization applications submitted in 2025 must meet these thresholds to be approved.
Pending Applications: For applications with 2025 start dates, ensure salary adjustments are in line with the new limits.
