New immigration category for employees of start-ups

To make the Netherlands even more attractive for foreign nationals wanting to start their businesses in the Netherlands, the Dutch government wants to introduce a new immigration category for ‘essential staff’. It is aimed that this new immigration route will be introduced in June 2020 as a pilot.

In addition, the Dutch government also envisions a new regulation which shall enter into force in 2020 for spouses and partners of foreign nationals who are in possession of a residence permit as self-employed entrepreneurs.
