Immigration Updates – Belgium – New salary thresholds published

The Brussels Minimum salary requirements for 2022 have been published: 

Highly-skilled workers: EUR 44.097 (up from EUR 43.395)

Executives: EUR 73.570 (up from EUR 72.399)

Managers EU ICT Permit: EUR 57.019 (up from EUR 56.111)
Specialists EU ICT Permit: EUR 45.616 (up from 44.889)
Trainees EU ICT Permit: EUR 28.509 (up from 28.056 euro )

EU Blue Card applicants: EUR 57.019 (up from EUR 56.111)

Flanders Minimum salary requirements for 2022 have also been published: 

Highly-skilled workers: EUR 45.096  (up from EUR 43.524)
EUR 36.076,80 (up from EUR 34.819,20) linked by an employment contract with an employer established in Belgium, insofar as the employee:
1) either has not reached the age of thirty or
2) is employed as a nurse

Executives (including managers EU ICT Permit): EUR 72.154 (up from EUR 69.638)

Specialist and trainees EU ICT Permit: EUR 45.096 (up from 43,524)

EU Blue Card applicants: EUR 54.115 (up from EUR 52.229)

Please take the following into account:

First time and extension applications: 

Employers who want to obtain or extend work authorization on or after January 1st 2022 must increase the salary to comply with the new threshold. Immigration applications that do not meet the minimum salary requirement will be rejected.

Pending applications: 

Employers with pending applications as of January 1st 2022 must increase the salary to comply with the new threshold and must inform the Regional authorities.

Foreign employees with valid permits: 

Employers must also make sure that the salary of foreign employees already working in the Region complies with the new thresholds as of January 1st 2022.
