What’s on in the Netherlands in June?

June has a lot in store for us, from music and wine festivals in Amsterdam to rooftop nights in Rotterdam, Japanese garden visits in the Hague, and museum night in Leiden. Check out our favorite activities in June below.

1. Amsterdam Open Air | Gaasperpark – Amsterdam

June 3-4, from 12:00-23:00

Amsterdam Open Air has taken place on the first weekend of June in Gaasperpark in Amsterdam for the past 10 years. The line-up consists of a selection of creative frontrunners in the city that reflects the nightlife and art culture in our capital city.

2. Holland Festival | Amsterdam (different locations) 

June 1 – July 1

Holland Festival presents beautiful performing arts, nationally and internationally, throughout the month of June. This leading international performing arts festival takes place in Amsterdam every year. Since 1948, the Holland Festival has been offering theatergoers exceptional top-level performances.

3. Rotterdam Rooftop Days – Rotterdam

June 1 – June 4

Discover Rotterdam from above on one of their 65 rooftops! Rotterdam Rooftop Days (Dakendagen Rotterdam) offers performances and exciting activities at many usually closed-off locations. All while enjoying the beautiful Rotterdam skyline in the background.

4. Museum Night – Leiden 

June 3 

Museum Night Leiden brings an exciting line-up of museum events to the city. A lot of the program is in English, which is great news for expats! Expect to see art installations and talks on diverse topics, from the culture of the historic city of Leiden to the implications of science in our world in the past, present, and future.

5. Clingendael Japanese Garden – The Hague

April 29 – June 11

Don’t miss out on the beautiful Japanese garden in The Hague which is still open for a few more days in June. Marvel in rare trees and plants, dive into the long Clingendael history and have a picnic at the water for an enjoyable afternoon.

6. AnimeCon – Rijswijk 

June 9 – 11

AnimeCon is an annual anime convention in the Netherlands. This 52-hour fan convention features Japanese movies, video games, characters, and merchandise.

Run by the Foundation for the Promotion of Japanese Pop Culture, or J-Pop, it is the largest Japan-related event in the Netherlands.
