The great Surinam Exhibition
The Great Surinam Exhibition
The Netherlands and Suriname share a century-long history. Yet, it’s history has not received the attention one would expect. Both because of this and the fact that the country will celebrate its 45th anniversary of independence next year, the idea to show its rich culture, its people and history to a broad audience was born.
The exhibition, opened on the 5th of October at De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam, covers the entire cultural history of Suriname and will be shown through photographs, archaeological artefacts, historical documents and clothing, to works of contemporary and applied art, films and music from museums and private collections and much more.
